Eating for Two: Week 26

Hey folks!! I hope you’re all spectacular.

Me? I’m lovely! Thanks for asking. ūüėÄ

Over the weekend, Johnny and I went to our Childbirth Preparation Class!! It was Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00 and Saturday from 9:00-3:00. ¬†Everyone’s all “Oh wow! That’s such a long time!” Well yes, I suppose it was, but I pretty much loved every second of it.

I’ve always been the type of person who really enjoys learning and this class was no exception. There are sooooooo many different things that you need to know about giving birth! I guess, technically, people have survived for this long without necessarily knowing everything, but I took comfort in learning about the different stages or labor, relaxation techniques, and birthing positions.

I also went into the class with a pretty open mind about having an epidural. Although my plan has been to deliver naturally, I have never ruled out the idea of having an epidural if I really thought I needed it. This class successfully changed my mind. That is, unless there is an emergency and I need to deliver via c-section, I genuinely hope and believe that I will deliver completely drug free.

Yes – I understand that it’s painful. So is a giant needle in your spine!! And did you know that sometimes – epidurals wear off!! So you’re stuck sitting in bed, because although the pain relief has worn off you certainly still can’t get up and move around with a catheter in (again, no thank you) and you’re in just as much pain as you would have been in without it!! Only now, you can’t change positions in an attempt to relieve the pain! ¬†I also learned that 60% of all births where an epidural was administered require assistance with either forceps or suction. Assistance like that is almost unheard of with a natural birth. (Seriously, I asked the nurse who was teaching the class. She’s been nursing for 15 years and said she has never witnessed a natural birth that required assistance. ) I am also sooooooooooo confident in Johnny’s coaching abilities. Even just during this class while discussing everything we were learning he just kept telling me how much faith he has in my abilities and how I’m going to rock. With that kind of attitude and support I totally feel like I can do anything.

Anywho – now that my rant is over – let’s get onto what I’m sure you’re really here for anyway. My bUmP-date!!

26 weeks

How far along: 26 weeks, 5 days

Total weight gain/loss:¬† 140 lbs – 25 lbs gained total so far. I’m feeling good and right on track!!

Maternity clothes?¬†Yes please!! I think I may even need to get a few more tops for when the weather warms up. I’ve been sticking with what I have, but I really don’t want to stretch out every shirt I own!!

Stretch marks? No, sir. Still applying cocoa butter daily.

Sleep:¬†I’m pleased to report that I’m sleeping well!

Miss anything?¬†Nah – we’re good. (heh – get it)

Movement:¬†As we speak! It’s so silly. It makes me giggle every time I feel her!

Food cravings:  None that I can think of!

Food aversions: Nope!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Best moment this week:¬†I loved everything about my Saturday. I loved the Childbirth Class. And I loved that we had time to go to the gym before we went out later that night and a very fit woman looked at me with a smile when I turned to her and said “Your belly is perfect!” And finally, I loved that we had a super fun ¬†night over at Ashley and Jared’s! I made a chicken enchilada flat bread for dinner, Ashley made a riddddiculous salad with strawberries, pomegranate, candied walnuts, and basil vinaigrette, anddddd there was Tiramisu! ¬†Such an awesome day!!

Gender prediction: GIRL!

Labor signs:¬†Nope. Though I’m pleased to say that now I know what to look for when it comes. Yay, learning!!

Symptoms:¬† Still just pretty forgetful like…all the time. Like the other day when I asked Johnny if he still wanted to stop and get gas on our lunch break and he kindly reminded me that we literally had just stopped at the gas station on the way to work!

Belly Button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody most of the time:¬†¬†See, I don’t like this question anymore. Because happy is totally a mood! And moody really just means that ya know, you’re experiencing many moods – right?¬†I feel happy right now, but it wouldn’t be too hard to irritate me either. Sigh. So moody.

Looking forward to:¬†Eeeeeee it’s a New Jersey weekend with Bill and Susan and Romeo and their new puppy Loki who I can’t wait to meet! AND it’s My Desirae’s Baby Shower weekend!! Hooray!!

Eating for Two: Week 22

Oh my gosh. 22 weeks already! Time flies when you’re counting down!!

Only 125 days until Emma makes her grand arrival!!

22 weeksIt’s ridiculous how much there is to do and prepare for. I’m really looking forward to getting started on her nursery soon! I’ve been working on our registry for the last week or so. Neither Johnny or I are particularly comfortable picking something BIG out exclusively online, so we’re probably going to take a little road trip to Maryland in a week or two to take a look at a crib we really like. It’s just not sold in any stores around here! Boo on that!!

Oh well, at least it’s Friday!! If you can’t tell by my appearance in this lovely photo I was pretty bummy today. I feel like my belly is really starting to pop – and I can really tell when I try to wear jeans!! I hate to say this, but Johnny was right when he told me not to throw out my “fat jeans.” They are the only ones I can be comfy in all day! I definitely may need to invest in at least a pair of maternity jeans. We’ll see, I suppose, but that’s enough chatter from me. Here’s the scoop!!

How far along: 22 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:¬† I’m about 133 right now (this is my estimate because the gym scale says 135 and the home scale says 130…oh life). Either way, I’m feeling good and that’s roughly 18 pounds gained so far!

Maternity clothes?¬†Indeed! And they are wonderful. And in addition to leggings and such the Bellaband is probably the best purchase I’ve made this entire pregnancy. They keep my pants up even though I can’t button them all anymore!

Stretch marks?¬†My skin is still looking pretty good. I finally invested in some Palmer’s Cocoa Butter and even most of my itchiness has subsided, which is such a relief! Except, of course, wherever my bra touches me…because they are all officially too small now…next on my to buy list!

Sleep:¬†I’m still sleeping well. I looooooooooooove the body pillow my fellow pregnant bffl Desirae got me for Christmas. I just wrap myself around it and pass out every night.

Miss anything?¬†I could go for some sushi. And there are a few yoga poses I need to pass on now – like cobra and bow. But it’s cool – I just alter my practice a bit and I’m thinking I may just snag a California Roll the next time I’m at Wegmans. ūüėÄ

Movement:¬†Yes!!! Sunday night was the first time I ever really noticed it. We found out at my ultra sound that I have an anterior placenta – which means it’s sitting in front of the baby, rather than behind the baby. Nothing to worry about!! It’s totally safe, just not quite as common as the reverse. Either way, that explains the delay in my feeling her wiggle. There’s a big ol’ cushion in between her and my belly. All week, though, I’ve been noticing little thumps and bumps in my belly. Miss Emma does NOT like sitting in meetings at work. I feel ya, munchkin. Mommy doesn’t like meetings either.

Food cravings:¬† mmmmmm doughnutsFunny story. Johnny and I catch up on shows we like during our lunch break on Hulu. I’m not kidding when I say every day for the last two weeks I’ve seen a stupid commercial for stupid Dunkin Donuts “Bakeshop Blends” coffee and it’s always for their Chocolate Glazed Donut flavor at every single commercial break. Well, Dunkin Donuts marketers – congratulations! I couldn’t stop thinking about this stupid doughnut all week. And my hubby, being as awesome as he is, humored me and took me to Dunkin on lunch today. That chocolate doughnut was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be. I also had a decaf toasted almond flavored coffee with cream and sugar because…well…why not??

Food aversions: Nope! Just eating a bit less meat in general these days.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show yet: Why yes I have.

Best moment this week:¬†Definitely feeling Emma move! It was so exciting! Johnny has pretty much been poking and prodding at my belly every night to see if she’s in there and I swear it was just like two swift little kicks and we were both so excited! Baby girl is going to be a ninja.

Gender prediction: GIRL!

Labor signs: No. That’s just silly.

Symptoms:¬†Headaches! Pretty much for the last three weeks at some point every day I have had a headache. ¬†Nothing unbearable or excruciating, just present enough to be annoying. Buuuut apparently that’s normal pregnancy stuff. I still forgot everything, too.

Belly Button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody most of the time:¬†¬†Oh who am I trying to kid – I’m SO moody!!!

Looking forward to: Finishing up our Baby Registry! I’m still working on making sure we’ll have everything we need by the time June rolls around. Mommas – I’d LOVE any suggestions you have for some of your favorite products, whether they’re super common or totally random!!

Alright, folks. It’s time for me to do some dishes, fold some laundry, and hunker down with my copy of Insurgent until I fall asleep. Hopefully I’ll be cooking something new this week so I should have a new recipe for you soon!!

Eating for Two: Week 18

18weekspregnantHow far along: 18 weeks!

Total weight gain/loss: I’ve gained ten pounds and I’m sitting pretty at 125 lbs.

Maternity clothes? I used some of the money I got for Christmas and just got a HUGE order from Old Navy. I’m really liking it all so far. 2 pairs of leggings, 3 tank tops, maternity compression capris (LOVE!! And LOVE that they were under $30), a maxi skirt, 4 pretty tops, and a partridge in a pear tree. (Sigh. Christmas came and went so fast this year. Booooo.)

Stretch marks?¬†None that I can notice. I’ve been slathering my entire body in lotion daily. Though my skin is suuuuuuuuuuuuppppper itchy…not just my belly…everywhere. Especially on my spine. It’s weird.

Sleep: I love it. And it loves me. And I’m trying to get as much as I can while I still can!

Miss anything? The sauna. *sigh* We switched over our gym memberships to a new place a few weeks ago and this new one has what appears to be a very lovely sauna. I popped my head in once to see. We shall reunite one day, sauna!

Movement: Nothing that I’ve noticed yet – unless you count baby trampolining on my bladder when I run lately. Though I don’t really feel movement. Just an urge to pee the instant I exceed 4.9 mph on the treadmill!

Food cravings:¬† Not really a craving per say but I’ve been devouring clementines lately!

Food aversions: Meh – chicken is starting to bug me again. Otherwise no.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nah.

Have you started to show yet: Heh – you tell me!

Best moment this week: Johnny and I met up with our friend and former co-worker (I miss youuuu), Myla, and her husband for lunch today! It was lovely catching up and we definitely all need to hang out more!

Gender prediction: Sticking with girl!

Labor signs: No. That’s just silly.

Symptoms: I’ve been extra emotional and forgetful this week. I had a good cry on Wednesday for just about no reason at all. I’ve also been having some lower back pain this week. However, one of the ladies I work with has been kind enough to lend me her stability ball chair and it’s helping to alleviate some of it since I have to sit all day long. (Thanks, Christina!)

Belly Button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off?¬†Still on and still sooo loose because it’s been so cold this week.

Happy or Moody most of the time:¬† This was probably a moody week – but I’m THRILLED it’s the weekend!!

Looking forward to: FINDING OUT IF BABY YODER IS A BOY OR A GIRL!!! EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! My ultrasound is on the 23rd! I’m soooooooooo excited to get another peek at this little bladder bouncer! We’re having a silly little gathering with a few close friends on the 25th to share the gender with everyone! I. CAN’T. EFFING. WAIT!

And now for your viewing pleasure, I present to you Quincy and Ralf. These guys are so photogeneic…and I like playing with my new camera!¬† Enjoy!

Introducing Twenty-Something & Starving: Eating for Two!!

Well hello, friends! I know it’s been quite a while since you’ve heard from me. But who cares?! I have what is absolutely, positively, ¬†the most exciting news ever in the history of forever to share with you!!

I’m pregnant!!

You read that correctly! I’m going to be a Mommy, Johnny is going to be a Daddy, and Quincy is going to be a big brother! We are all over-the-moon excited about it!!!

In true blogger fashion, I’ve decided that now that we’ve shared the news with our loved ones that I will be tracking my weekly progress right here on my blog. I’ll have a whole new section dedicated to Baby Yoder (this kid is spoiled already – a whole blog section all to his/herself!). I shall call it: Twenty-Something & Starving: Eating for Two!! I will be including all sorts of fun photos, detail how I’ve been feeling, share any exciting news, AND I will still be doing what I can to share a healthy recipe with you here and there.

So here is my first Eating for Two post. I hope you enjoy it!! (If you don’t, well, only about 28 weeks left. ūüôā )

How far along: Technically, my week changes over on Thursday. That means today, I am 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant.

When did you know?¬†Well, funny story really. In October I ran in my first half marathon with one of my best friends in the whole world, Susan. I was following a 12 week training schedule. During some of our runs together, I started talking about how my boobs felt bigger and sore (which you would definitely notice if you were training for a half marathon) and we both just thought, “Oh snap, I might be pregnant!” and then we didn’t really think about it for a while. Before all of my runs I would always eat a banana with some peanut butter. During my last few weeks of training before the big race I started experiencing the worst indigestion and heartburn during my runs. I was really disappointed in myself when I went out two weeks before the race for a 12 miler and only got 3.5 miles in before I thought I was going to lose my banana and peanut butter all over the sidewalk. Little did I know that at that point in time I was already 3 weeks pregnant! I finished my first half marathon in 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 36 seconds when I was 5 weeks pregnant and I didn’t even know! I took a pregnancy test a week later and well…here I am today!! Here’s some adorrrrrable photos of Susan and I at the finish line and with our medals!!

Total weight gain/loss:¬†Well, when I ran the half marathon I weighed in at 115 pounds. Since then I’m up to 120 pounds. I think most of it has to do with the fact that, although I am still running and working out regularly, I’m not running 20+ miles per week nor am I nearly as strict with my diet. The doctor says I’m healthy so hooray!

Maternity clothes?¬†Not yet required! This is thanks, in large part, to the fact that when I dropped down to 115 pounds I didn’t ever go out and buy pants that fit! So my pants that were loose then are almost fitting me the way they are supposed to now!

Stretch marks? Not that I can tell at this point.

Sleep:¬†Meh – I’ve definitely slept better. I wake up quite a bit in the middle of the night for no reason and have a hard time falling back asleep. And I pretty much always wake up at 3:00 am to pee!

Miss Anything?¬†Runny eggsssss!! I would pretty much eat them for breakfast at least once a week. But no more. *Sigh* This baby better be cute! ūüėÄ

Movement:¬†No not yet, but sometimes Johnny will listen to my belly to see if he can hear Baby’s heartbeat! He can’t. Lol. He’s silly.

Food cravings:¬†Oh geeez, anything with cheese! Seriously it’s ridiculous. I’ve stocked up on Kraft Mac & Cheese (the Monster’s Inc ones!) and have been trying to only have it every other week. I’m doing okay so far. Also, steak and red meat in general – which is super weird for me! Grapefruit and grapefruit juice…annnnnnd S’mores Poptarts. It seems to me at this point in time that baby will be a lot like Daddy.

Food Aversions: It’s really bizarre but I have almost no desire whatsoever to drink tea!! I also don’t feel awesome about halfway through my meal if it has chicken in it. A few bites and I’m good, but anymore than that makes me feel kind of queasy. This just started over the last two weeks, and I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with it because chicken is such a huge part of my diet!

Anything making you queasy or sick: If my belly is empty, belly is not happy.

Have you started to show yet:¬†Mehhh – I can feel a difference in my belly if I touch it, but I still don’t think you can really notice anything yet.

Best moment this week:¬†Unrelated to baby, it was Thanksgiving last week and I sure do love Thanksgiving! We spend this Thanksgiving with my sister-in-law Melinda’s future in-laws! (Say that five times fast!) There was so much delicious food!!! I have so much to be Thankful for this year. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the holiday season!

Gender prediction:¬†Oh man, I have no idea. Everyone wants a girl!! I just want a healthy lil’ baby. I kind of maybe feel like it’s a girl though. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut we’ll have to wait and see!

Labor Signs:¬†No. That’s just silly.

Symptoms:¬†I am a burp factory. It doesn’t matter what I do or don’t consume – I just burp all day. I’m actually enjoying carbonated beverages a bit more than I used to specifically because they make burping easier. I’ve always been super emotional and I’ve always peed more than any normal person I know – so I don’t feel like what I’m experiencing now is all that different than it was, but I figured I’d throw that in there, too! Also – FORGETFULNESS! Ugh, this is probably the worst. I almost forgot to add it as a symptom! There was a morning a few weeks back, where for the life of me I couldn’t remember where I put my keys (note: I left them in the pocket of my bathrobe…yeah…I don’t even know) annnnnd I got so upset I cried. Oh life!

Belly Button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off?¬†On! They’ve always been kind of loose actually, and I was thinking about getting them resized. Now I think I shall wait until after baby.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Even though Johnny keeps calling me “Moody Pants” (which, btw, doesn’t help when I am feeling on the moodier side!) I’d like to say happy. I’m so excited for Christmas this year!!!

Looking forward to: Finding out if Baby Yoder is a boy or a girl!!! Annnnnnnnnnnnd the girls weekend I have planned in two weeks! Annnnnnnnnnnnnd CHRISTMAS!!!!

Yay, life! Yay, babies! Yay, holiday season!! Oh snap – add a (decaf) Peppermint Mocha to that list of cravings. Though I won’t blame baby for this one. I blame my (AWESOME) Christmas playlist that I’m listening to and the association I have with peppermint mocha and the holidays! I really am a marketers dream. Lolz. That’s all for now folks! Let’s see if I can get a recipe up this week, too!!
